Seven years of 30 Best Bars India, and why the team believes the moment is right for Sri Lanka.
Best Bars Sri Lanka is an effort of the team behind 30 Best Bars India, India’s leading bar-ranking platform, whose annual ranking has become an important benchmark for the country’s bar industry.
Established in 2019, 30 Best Bars India began with a simple but ambitious purpose: to recognise excellence in bars and beverage service, raise industry standards, and provide India’s bar talent with a platform for national and international recognition.
The annual ranking is determined through a nationwide jury poll involving more than 300 bar enthusiasts and industry experts. Its awards gala, held every January, brings together more than 700 guests from across the world of bars and beverages.
A new wave on the island
Sri Lanka has emerged over the past few decades as one of South Asia’s most exciting hospitality and nightlife destinations. In recent years, Colombo and coastal destinations such as Galle and Hiriketiya have witnessed a new wave of ambitious bars, talented bartenders and distinctive hospitality concepts.
Fuelled in part by a thriving tourism industry, the country’s food and beverage landscape continues to evolve. Its bars and bartenders are attracting growing recognition, both at home and internationally.
We believe the time is right to celebrate this momentum through a platform dedicated to recognising the best of Sri Lanka’s bar industry.
